Privacy Policy
horacalc itself does not use cookies and keeps what you type in your browser only. This page explains what data is still processed, why, and what your rights are.
1. Who is responsible
horacalc.com is an independent project. For anything about your personal data, email privacy@horacalc.com.
2. Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you open a page, Cloudflare processes the technical data needed to deliver it: your IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the page and protect the site against attacks.
For visitors in the UK and EU, the legal basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR / GDPR): keeping the site secure and available. Cloudflare acts as a processor under its Data Processing Addendum, which is part of Cloudflare’s customer terms. Data may be processed in the United States. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, so transfers rely on those adequacy decisions; if the certification lapses, the standard contractual clauses in the Data Processing Addendum apply (with the UK Addendum for UK data). Cloudflare does not publish a fixed retention period for this connection data: under the Data Processing Addendum it is kept only as long as needed to provide the service, and no longer than the end of the contract. See also Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
If Cloudflare shows a security check for a suspicious request, it may then set a strictly necessary security cookie (cf_clearance) so the check is not shown again. If Cloudflare’s bot protection is switched on, it also sets __cf_bm, which expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. These cookies only protect the site against attacks.
3. Visitor statistics with Cloudflare Web Analytics
To see which calculators are used, horacalc uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. According to Cloudflare, it uses no cookies or local storage and does not build visitor profiles; page views are analyzed in aggregate. The script reports the page address (without the query string), the referring page, browser details and load times. According to Cloudflare, Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors’ personal data. The legal basis is legitimate interests: understanding how the calculators are used in order to improve them. Retention: Cloudflare keeps the individual measurements for 7 days and then only in aggregate; the aggregated reports stay available for 6 months. If you don’t want to be counted, block scripts from static.cloudflareinsights.com in your browser; the calculators keep working.
4. Storage in your browser
So that your entries are still there on your next visit, the calculators save them in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). They stay on your device and are not sent to horacalc. You can delete them with “Reset” in the calculator (the saved week in the hours calculator with “Clear week”) or in your browser settings.
After your first change, the calculator writes your entries into the part of the address after the # sign, so you can share the link or bookmark it. That part is not sent to the server when the page loads, but it stays in your browser history and in any link you pass on.
5. Contact by email
If you send an email, your address and message are processed to answer you. The legal basis is legitimate interests. The data is deleted when it is no longer needed for that purpose, unless it must be kept by law. Emails to horacalc.com addresses are received by Cloudflare Email Routing (Cloudflare, Inc., see section 2) as a processor and forwarded to the operator’s inbox, which is hosted on Gmail (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA).
6. Cookies, ads and social media
horacalc itself currently sets no cookies, shows no ads and embeds no social media content. If that changes, this policy will be updated first. horacalc does not sell or share personal information.
7. Your rights
If UK or EU data protection law applies to you, you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing, to data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to privacy@horacalc.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority in your EU country.
8. Changes
This policy may change, for example when new features are added. The version published on this page applies, with the date of the last update in the footer.
